Probable Stupid Question: Using 64-bit Code on 64-bit Processors running 32-bit Windows... #2
Hi, Does anyone know if it is possible to do 64-bit processing (probably by writing some assembly language code) when running on a 64-bit CPU under 32-bit Windows? As near as I can tell, one has to develop all 64-bit code on a 64-bit machine running 64-bit windows and the target machines for 64-bit code have to be 64-bit machines running 64-bit windows. What might be useful, if it is possible, would be being able to detect a 64-bit processor when running 32-bit windows and take advantage of that to speed up some calculations. We are planning to upgrade from 9.0.0 to 9.0.2. The documentation states that we just need to run dbupgrad and then archive the transaction log and start a new one if we do some replication. Is it as easy as this? I can just rename the transaction log and then delete it. Could you share your experience if you have done this already? We are concerned that we will have problems with synchronization when we do this upgrade. 9.0.0, 9.0.1, 9.0.2
My shop is moving to PB9 and is about to deploy with 9.0.0 build 5507. How stable is this runtime environment? I assume 9.0.1 and 9.0.2 are better, but that isn't always the case. I'd like to convince folks here that going out with a .0 release is a bit risky, but I haven't found any issues with 9.0.0 yet that require us to go with 9.0.1 or 9.0.2. Should I feel comfortable that 9.0.0 is fine, or are there solid reasons to go with 9.0.1 or 9.0.2 that I haven't found yet? I'd go with the 9.0.1 release - the latest EBF. I haven't personally taken 9.0.2 for ...
Upgrade to 9.0.2 from 9.0.x missing
Hi, I'd like to upgrade my 9.0.1.2009 installation to 9.02 (prior to applying other patches), but on the EBF download site I can't find this install (I'm using Windows 2003 server). Maybe I'm missing something obvious :-) Best regards, Edgard I actually downloaded earlier today. 9.0.x to 9.0.2 Maintenance Release released Nov 04. 'Edgard L. Issue with Upgrade from 9.0.0 to 9.0.2
I was wondering if you can help me with this issue that we experienced when we upgraded one of the ASA database that we are synchronizing from 9.0.0 to 9.0.2. The name of the database file is core5.db and the log is core5.log. After I ran the dbupgrad utility, I copied the core5.log file to the same folder and named it core51.log then I deleted the core5.log file. I got this error message in the attached log when I tried to synchronize. I. 01/31 10:32:54. Begin synchronizing 'ScopePub' for MobiLink user 'user1' I. 01/31 10:32:55. Upgrade 9.0.1 to 9.0.2 for Windows x64
Hi, I recently migrated to Vista x64 and now want to reinstall sql anywhere. I only have a cd with version 9.0.1 so I need to download an ebf that upgrades from 9.0.1 to 9.0.2. However on the ebfs/maintenance I cannot seem to find the upgrade for Windows x64. I can find other ebf's for 9.0.2. Is there another way to get 9.0.2 running ? Or can I download a 9.0.2 x64 base installation somewhere ? As far as I understand the process, the MR and EBF route is the only way to go. We had 64bit support for Windows but only for the Itanium prior to an ebf of 9.0.2. As such X64 su...

Migrating ASA 9.0.2 to SQL Anywhere 12.0.0
Hello all...Does anyone know if it is possible to directly migrate ASA 9.0.2 to SQL Anywhere 12.0.0? Hello Mark, 'Directly' is a bit of a loose term, but yes, you can migrate ASA 9 'directly' to SA 12. You will have to minimally rebuild your 9.0.x databases to be run on 12.0.x database servers. We also would expect that you thoroughly regression test your application against the new software version as there have been many behaviour changes and enhancements made since 9.0.2. I'd highly recommend reading the 'Changes and Features' section in ...
